Ghee co-packing,
at any volume.
Palace Foods is one of the few food co-packing facilities in the region with the ability to produce ghee. We manufacture, package and label high-quality clarified butter — from a proving batch to a full production run.

Why so few plants do it
Ghee is a difficult product to make at scale
Clarified butter looks simple until you try to make it by the pallet. Butter has to be held at sustained, carefully controlled heat long enough for the water to cook off and the milk solids to separate — but not so long that those solids scorch and turn the whole batch bitter. Then it has to be filtered clean and filled while it is still fluid.
That ties up a line for far longer than a typical sauce run, and it demands an operator who knows what the product should look, smell and sound like at each stage. Most contract manufacturers look at the economics and decline.
We have been making it for decades. Ghee is not a side line for us — it comes out of nearly forty years of working with Indian cuisine, where getting it right is not optional.

Already making ghee for retail
Our own Sambar Kitchen line puts ghee on shelves. Everything we have learned getting our product to retail goes into yours.
What's included
Manufacturing, packaging and labelling
A finished, shelf-ready product under your own brand — not a drum of bulk ghee and a problem.
Manufacturing
Traditional slow-clarified process run at production scale, matched to your specification for colour, aroma and grain.
Packaging
Filled into your chosen jar or container. Hot fill, cold fill and pasteurization are all available in house for adjacent products.
Labelling
Private-label ready. We label the finished product under your brand so it leaves us ready for the shelf.
Volumes and minimums
We run both high-volume and low-volume lines, so a proving batch and a full production run are both possible here. Talk to us about the quantity you actually need — the honest answer is that it depends on the format and the packaging, and we would rather tell you the real number than a marketing one.

Ghee co-packing FAQ
- Can you produce ghee at small volume?
- Yes. Our low-volume lines let you run a small batch to prove the product before committing to a full production run, and scale up from there as demand grows.
- Do you package and label the ghee as well?
- Yes. Our facilities are capable of manufacturing, packaging and labelling high-quality ghee at any volume — including private-label runs under your own brand.
- Why is ghee harder to co-pack than other products?
- Clarified butter needs sustained, carefully controlled heat to separate the milk solids without scorching, then careful filtration and filling while the product is still fluid. It ties up equipment for longer than a typical sauce run, which is why most contract manufacturers simply won't take it on.
- Where are you located?
- Our facility is at 100 Cleveland Ave, Reading, Pennsylvania 19605 — in Berks County, within easy reach of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets.
- What else do you make alongside ghee?
- Cooking oils, curry and simmer sauces, chutneys, pastes, salsas, ready-to-eat meals and dry mixes — with hot fill, cold fill and pasteurization all available in house.
