Cleanliness Matters! CGMP and COVID-19

Established by the FDA more than 50 years ago, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) have been a part of Palace Foods Inc.’s  DNA during our entire 30 year existence. In 2015 when the agency modernized CGMP, along with new requirements for hazard analysis and risk-based preventive controls, we instantly followed them to the letter and have ever since.  Cleanliness has always been and will always be of paramount importance at Palace Foods.  

Palace Foods remains committed to going above and beyond in cleaning protocols set by federal, state and local health departments.

We adhere to CGMP regulations at the highest level in all areas: 

  • personal hygienic practices
  • design and construction of our food plant
  • maintenance of plant grounds & equipment
  • sanitary operations
  • production and process controls during the production of food

Additionally, in response to COVID-19, we are institutionalizing 3 additional measures to protect our colleagues, clients and consumers.

Infectious Disease Preparedness & Response Plan

Following the recommendation of OSHA, we are developing this plan to take further protective actions against COVID-19 as we stay abreast of guidance from federal, state and local health agencies and consider how to incorporate those recommendations and resources into our workplace. Our team has even stepped up to provide additional paid sick time to all payroll employees to encourage health and well-being.

Highly Conscious Hand Washing

Harvard’s School of Public Health reports that COVID-19 is an “enveloped virus,” meaning it’s covered in an oily membrane. “Fortunately, plain soap is very effective at disrupting the oil on surfaces, and water is effective at removing and rinsing away the virus.”  While standards set by CGMP have always required high levels of personal hygiene, our Palace Foods team is uber-focused on continual and meaningful hand washing in warm water and soap for a minimum of 20 seconds.

Incremental Deep Cleaning of Equipment & Surfaces 

We have always followed government guidelines on cleaning, maintenance and proper operations of our facility.  With orderly placement of equipment and materials to prevent cross-contamination, we adhere to safe process flow at all times.  We also vow to keep meat and fish products completely out of our facilities to support our primarily vegetarian and vegan consumer base.

Additionally, we are ramping up our routine cleaning of all equipment and surfaces in response to this pandemic. Palace Foods Inc. takes pride in producing the best products for our clients while maintaining exceptional cleanliness and safety standards.
